Building in Vancouver
Vancouver runs its own Building By-law, separate from the BC Building Code that Surrey and most other cities use, and its own permit process. The drawings, consultants and permits are coordinated for you either way.
Laneway homes have been allowed on many Vancouver lots for years, and BC’s small-scale multi-unit housing rules now let many single-family lots add more homes. What a particular lot allows depends on its zoning, its size and whether it has lane access, so that’s where we start.

Yes. Laneway homes, garden suites and multiplexes are one of our seven services. Before anything is drawn, we look at what your lot may qualify for.
Is your licence valid in Vancouver?
Yes. Kalsira Homes Ltd. is a Licensed Residential Builder with BC Housing (licence #55417), which covers residential building anywhere in British Columbia. Each project also gets its own City of Vancouver permits.
